The Good Years, AKA: Humming Along
Copper (cast from 6'4" of grounding cable), soft maple, graphite enamel, MDO plywood
6’x3’x.1’, 2023
This work features an impression of the tire tread of a U.S. military Humvee. This impression—made in a graphite surface that is both carbonized and conductive—shares a pedestal with a copper replica of an 1860 plaster cast of Abraham Lincoln’s empty left fist by sculptor Leonard Wells Volk. As in the case Of Broomsticks and Slick Blades I have made this replica by melting and pouring a grounding cable of Lincoln’s height.
